December 9, 2009: The IWSOS 2009 Best Paper Award sponsored by IFIP TC6 goes to Tom Kleiberg and Piet Van Mieghem (Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands) for their excellent paper entitled Self-Organization of Internet Paths. [350 KB]

December 10, 2009: The venue for the next IWSOS will be Karlsruhe (Germany). IWSOS 2010 will be hosted and organized by the group of Prof. Martina Zitterbart, head of the Institute of Telematics at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).

December 11, 2009: The IWSOS Best Presentation Award sponsored by ETH Zurich goes to Christopher Auer for his outstanding presentation [563 KB] of the paper The Degree of Global-State Awareness in Self-Organizing Systems. [207 KB]

Workshop description

IWSOS 2009 is a workshop sponsored by the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP), WG 6.2 and WG 6.7

IWSOS 2009, the Fourth International Workshop on Self-Organizing Systems, will be held in Zurich, Switzerland, December 9-11 2009. Building on the success of previous workshops in this series held in Passau (September 2006), Lancaster (September 2007), and Vienna (December 2008), IWSOS 2009 aims to provide a visionary forum for self-organization in networks and networked systems.


The venue for IWSOS 2009 will be the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH Zurich). The workshop is organized by the Communication Systems Group.

Contributions, reviewing process

Original technical research papers are solicited as full papers and short papers. Submitted papers will be peer-reviewed by the members of the Technical Program Committee.


Accepted papers will be published in the Workshop Proceedings by   publishers in the Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series (also available through Springer's digital library, LNCS Online).
